Shelly 1 Mini GEN3

Shelly 1 Mini GEN3 is an improved version of the Shelly 1 Mini single-channel smart relay. It allows switching up to 8A of current, the same as its predecessor. As with the Shelly 1 Mini, the GEN3 has a control circuit independent of the supply voltage, allowing it to be used for dry contact switching. No power metering function is included.

Like all Shelly products, the Shelly 1 Mini GEN3 connects directly to a WiFi router, without the need for additional local controllers, hubs or gateways. The device can be installed as a stand-alone device to automate a single electrical appliance or lighting, or as part of a complete smart home system, for both new builds and renovations.

It is one of the smallest WiFi smart switch management devices, and its small size makes it easy to install behind a standard wall switch in a junction box or connector, even as a retrofit.

Installation behind existing wall switches allows remote control of lighting or other devices, while retaining the manual operation function of the switch. However, due to the 8A current limit, it is not suitable for controlling electrical sockets.

The relay has a switch input, so you can still use a traditional wall switch to turn on/off the lamp (or other loads), but with remote control via WiFi and the use of different timers. It is also possible to disable the switch input in the app, which can be useful in rooms where you want to restrict access to children.

The relay is compatible with both two-position and rocker/bell switches, and also supports AC and cross-over switches.

The automatic switch-off also allows operation in pulse mode.

The relay's control circuitry is independent of the supply voltage (110-240V AC), so it is also suitable for potential independent dry contact switching and can control up to 8A (max. 240V) AC or 5A (max. 30V) DC loads. It is also suitable for applications where a potential independent contact is required, such as garage door openers, patio door motors, etc., and can also switch 12V or 24V AC/DC systems.

Important: Shelly 1 Mini GEN3 requires a phase and neutral conductor to operate, or the phase conductors must be of the same phase. The device is not suitable for multiphase electrical systems!

Gateway functions

Instead of the ESP32 chip, the Shelly 1 Mini GEN3 is equipped with the new ESP-Shelly-C38F chip. It supports Wi-Fi + Bluetooth protocols, includes a Bluetooth gateway function to connect to the new generation of Bluetooth sensors and Shelly remotes. It also provides a Wi-Fi repeater that boosts the Wi-Fi signal for devices installed in remote locations, creating a kind of Wi-Fi mesh system.

Connecting to your phone is quick and easy, via Bluetooth, similar to other second generation Shelly and Pro devices.

A more powerful processor and more features

The Shelly 1 Mini GEN3 has twice the memory of its predecessor - 8MB flash (previously 4MB), allowing for better performance and more features.

Overheating protection

The device has built-in overheating protection, ensuring safer operation even in small junction boxes and tight spaces.

Time settings

On/Off time can be set for specific days of the week, and sunrise and sunset settings can be used (e.g. sunset + 5 hours). It also supports automatic switching off or on after a set time.

• Wi-Fi Access Point mode: the device creates its own Wi-Fi network to connect directly to a mobile device if there is no permanent Wi-Fi connection

In the cloud, Shelly devices can automatically communicate with each other and control other Shelly devices according to set conditions. We can also use Direct Device-to-Device (DDD) communication over a LAN without the Internet, thus maintaining local management even when the connection is interrupted.
