Sonoff SNZB-03P Zigbee motion sensor

SNZB-03P is Sonoff's Zigbee motion sensorwhich has a longer battery life of up to 3 years and a redesign compared to its predecessor. The sensor is supplied with a magnetic wall bracket, which is new as previously the bracket had to be purchased separately. The SNZB-03P is a small smart motion sensor for the smart home that uses the Zigbee 3.0 protocol and sends signals via the Zigbee gateway to control other devices. Due to its small size, it can be discreetly mounted on a wall or ceiling.

For example, it communicates via Sonoff Zigbee Bridge Pro, iHost or NS Panel Pro with the eWeLink cloud and can be used to manage other Sonoff or SmartWise WiFi and eWeLink devices.
Another new feature is the setting of the test period of the motion sensor when connected to a Sonoff gateway. This allows you to set the time between 5 and 60 seconds before the sensor returns to sleep.
This allows very fast response times or longer delays, depending on your automation needs.

What is Zigbee?

Most Sonoff products use Wi-Fi and RF as a means of communication, which makes the products more affordable than other smart home technologies, but these are not specifically IoT standards.

In contrast, Zigbee is designed to be an ideal communication solution for low-power devices, where there is no need for high data throughput, but where it is important to minimise latency. Zigbee is an excellent choice for battery-powered sensors or remote controls, as it provides several times longer battery life than WiFi. Zigbee sensors cannot be used standalone, they need a Zigbee gateway to connect to your home or office network. One example is the Sonoff Zigbee Bridge Pro.

Due to the nature of Zigbee technology, connecting to Zigbee devices is very easy and faster than WiFi.
