About the Aqara brand:

The Aqara Hub M100 is the latest version of Aqara's entry-level compact central unit, replacing the previous Aqara E1 Hub model in the range. Like its predecessor, this model is plug & play, requiring only a USB-A power adapter (e.g. phone charger) or USB wall socket to operate. Also like its predecessor, it can be folded at a 210 degree angle, allowing it to be discreetly placed against the wall, regardless of the type of socket.

However, the Aqara Hub M100 supports not only the Zigbee 3.0 protocol, but also the Thread protocol, which is compatible with the Matter standard, allowing Aqara devices to connect to the Thread protocol. As a Matter-compatible hub, it also brings new features in the Wi-Fi area, supporting Wi-Fi 6. With an improved antenna and increased memory, this model is easy to install anywhere in your home where an electrical outlet or USB-A socket is available. It supports connection of devices with Zigbee and Thread protocols and works as both a Matter controller and Thread border router. Zigbee devices can also be connected to third Matter systems using the Matter bridge functionality.
