The new Shelly Bypass R2 is an updated Shelly accessory that works together with the Shelly 1L single-wire WiFi smart relay and the Shelly Dimmer 2 single-wire WiFi smart relay. Shelly Bypass is only required when these relays are used to operate only under live conditions, particularly when controlling low power consumption lights (such as LED lights).

The new Shelly Bypass R2, released in September 2022, is a Shelly accessory that works in conjunction with the Shelly 1L single-live-wire WiFi Smart Relay and the Shelly Dimmer 2 single-live-wire WiFi Smart Dimmer. The use of the Shelly Bypass is only necessary when low-energy luminaires (e.g. LED luminaires) are used with the smart relays.
Specifically, if:
- Shelly 1L is used with a lamp or other electrical device with a wattage of less than 20 W, or
- Shelly Dimmer 2 can be used with a light with a wattage of less than 10W.
Only required if Shelly 1L or Shelly Dimmer 2 is used in a single conductor installation, i.e. without a neutral conductor.
