Shelly EM Gen3 is a professional, compact smart energy meter that allows real-time monitoring of electricity consumption for homes, businesses and individual appliances. It provides detailed information on power consumption to help users optimise energy use and reduce costs. With the included 50A clip, it enables contactless metering.

With Shelly EM Gen3, you can also measure how much energy your solar system is producing and monitor your electricity consumption at the same time.

As it uses a Wi-Fi connection for smart connectivity, no local smart central unit (hub) is needed, and it works with the free Shelly Cloud via a Wi-Fi internet connection.

Modes of operation

• Cloud mode: The device connects to the free Shelly Cloud, which allows management and configuration via the Shelly Cloud app for smartphones (iOS and Android) and website. https://my.shelly.cloud.
• Alternatively, you can choose LAN / local area network modewhere the device is only accessible to other devices on the same local network.
• You can also use the device in WiFi access points (instead of WiFi client mode). For example, if there is no permanent WiFi network at the installation site, you can connect directly to the WiFi network broadcast by the device using your mobile phone or laptop to control the device or read the stored data.

In cloud mode, Shelly devices can manage each other (with IF-THEN conditions) via the "Shelly Cloud scene" function. For example, a Shelly energy meter can switch Shelly relays on or off via the cloud, which means that devices are wirelessly managed via Wi-Fi and the cloud according to user rules.
It is also possible to manage directly between devices via HTTP commands (DDD - Direct Device-to-Device mode) without using Shelly Cloud, even in LAN mode if fixed IP addresses are used. This means that Shelly devices can manage each other on the local network even if there is no external Internet connection (or if it is blocked by a firewall), using commands configured in the Shelly application.
Shelly PLUS 2PM smart control is made possible by the manufacturer's new app and cloud service, which are free of charge.

Integrations:

Shelly with its default firmware is one of the best platforms for easy integration. It supports management via MQTT and REST API. It is compatible with voice control via Google Home, Amazon Echo and Yandex Alice. Shelly Plus (Gen2) and Gen3 devices support simultaneous management via Cloud and MQTT.
