Shelly Plug S Gen3 is one of Shelly's smallest Wi-Fi smart plugs, launched in 2024, and so small that you hardly notice it when you plug it into a wall socket. Thanks to its compact size, you can also plug multiple Shelly Plug S Gen3 units into adjacent sockets. As a Plug & Play device, it is extremely easy to install, taking just a few minutes: simply plug it into a socket and connect it to the free Shelly Cloud mobile app. Once connected, you can start using the device immediately.
Despite its small size, it can control devices up to 2500W and thanks to the built-in power meter, you can monitor the power consumption of connected devices! In addition, the LED lights on the Plug S Gen3 don't just show the on/off status - you can set them to light up in different colours according to the current power consumption, or switch them off completely if they're a distraction in your bedroom, for example. The LED lights also support a night mode, where you can set a lower brightness at night or a stronger night light if needed.
Connecting to your smartphone via Bluetooth is quick and easy. Once connected to your Wi-Fi router, you can remotely monitor the socket's status, switch connected devices on and off, and set up to 50 local on/off timers offline. You can control various electrical devices, such as a floor lamp, and even simulate being at home by setting a home simulation mode that gives the impression that someone is home in the evening.
The socket can also send a notification to your phone or email if it detects a certain level of energy consumption.
Shelly has also ensured the safety of the children. The unique Plug S design prevents children from inserting objects into the socket.
Plug S Gen3 not only monitors power consumption and provides statistics, but can also send alerts if power consumption falls below a certain limit for a certain period of time. For example, it can notify you when the washing machine finishes a cycle (if the washing machine's consumption drops) or if the fridge doesn't use electricity for an hour, which can indicate a malfunction.
Consumption data is stored in Shelly Cloud, allowing you to view and download your consumption history via the app. In the cloud, Shelly devices can also control each other using the Shelly Cloud Scene functionality (Smart Control), even if they are in different locations (e.g. a Shelly light relay behind a wall switch can control another Shelly device plugged into a different socket). Devices can be controlled wirelessly via Wi-Fi and the Cloud based on set rules.
You can also manage devices directly using HTTP commands (Direct Device-to-Device mode) without Shelly Cloud, even in LAN mode if the devices have fixed IP addresses. This means that devices can communicate with each other locally even without an internet connection and in case of any problems with access to the cloud.
Shelly offers its own free mobile app and a cloud service for smart management.
Support for HTTP/HTTPS webhooks allows easy integration and automation without the need for additional hubs, using mjS scripts.
Connecting Shelly Plug S Gen3 is faster and easier thanks to the built-in Bluetooth (ESP-Shelly-C38F) chip.
The Shelly Plus Plug S is equipped with its own ESP-Shelly-C38F processor, which is faster and more powerful than the previously used ESP32, and has twice as much memory (8MB), allowing for improved features and faster performance in the Gen3 line. The new chipset design and increased memory capacity also support the Matter standard.
Shelly is one of the most versatile smart devices that can be used with the original firmware. It supports MQTT and REST APIs, as well as voice control via Google Home and Amazon Echo.
Integration with the SmartThings platform is also possible via Shelly Cloud.
The source software also supports a number of open source and other systems, including:
