The Shelly Wave 1PM is a 230V AC powered smart relay module with a power meter, belonging to the Shelly Wave product family and using the Z-Wave communication protocol (868.42 MHz in Europe). Z-Wave is a smart protocol developed specifically for communication between smart devices. Due to its sub-GHz frequency, it has a good signal range and the Z-Wave MESH topology allows stable communication even with devices that are remote from the central unit (permanently powered devices act as signal repeaters). Z-Wave devices require a Z-Wave Hub or USB coordinator (e.g. connected to a mini PC) to operate. The Z-Wave protocol uses a single communication command class, making it compatible with thousands of products from hundreds of different manufacturers. Up to 232 devices can be in a single Z-Wave network. An additional advantage of the Z-Wave protocol is the support for association groups, which allow direct connection of devices. In addition, Z-Wave devices can be configured with multiple parameters at protocol level, allowing them to be tailored to the advanced needs of users.
The Shelly Wave 1PM is a smart relay module that can be powered by 24-30V DC or 230V AC, and switches the output voltage according to the supply voltage. The module includes overheat and overload protection, ensuring safe operation even in confined spaces such as wall-mounted docking stations.
Pairing:
The module has a function button "S" which is used to pair, unpair or reset the device to factory settings. These functions are available for a limited time after switching on the device.
Pairing/unpairing/factory reset process:
Keep the "S" button pressed until the LED indicator turns blue. Then press and hold the "S" button again (for at least 2 seconds) to start the pairing or unpairing process.
As with other smart relays, both phase and neutral conductors are required for operation.
