Sonoff's new MINIR4M is mini Wi-Fi smart switch compatible with the Matter smart home standardthat turns ordinary switches into smart switches. It can be used to remotely control and automate lights and electronic devices, and its small size (only 33 x 40 mm) allows it to be fitted into a variety of mounting brackets, including the smallest European/EU-type/86-type/120-type brackets.
The Sonoff MINI R4M, also known as the Sonoff Mini Extreme R4 Matter version, supports external switch control and easily connects to a pulse switch, door output switch, SPDT switch, toggle switch and even dry contact sensors - just like the previous Sonoff Mini R2 or Mini R4 versions.
As a new feature, the MINI R4M also has a "separate relay" mode, which means that the states of the external switch and the relay are separate - i.e. the operation of the external button does not affect the state of the relay. However, the external switch can still be used to trigger smart scenes and control other devices, groups of devices or automations.
The Mini R4M is the Matter-compatible version and supports Bluetooth connectivity. It can work with the eWeLink app (as the MINIR4 version) or connect to a local Matter-compatible hub and work in a local smart home system without a connection to the cloud. Thanks to the support of the Matter standard, it is compatible with Google Home, Alexa and Apple Home.
Note: The MINI R4M (unlike the MINI R4) does NOT support "eWeLink-Remote", Sonoff's proprietary Bluetooth protocol for local management. Bluetooth is only used in the Matter version to connect to the app.
As with all other eWeLink relay modules, the functions of ON/OFF schedulers, post-power-on status (ON/OFF/BACKSTATE/ROTATED STATE), smart scenes (automation) and pulse mode (SELF-OFF and ON/OFF) are supported. To protect the power grid from overload, a power-on delay can also be set after a power outage.
The new Sonoff Mini Extreme R4 module is 40 % smaller than the MINI R2 and 60 % smaller than the Mini R3.
Sonoff R4 Extreme supports voice control via Google Assistant (Google Home) and Amazon Alexa.
The Sonoff R4 Wi-Fi Relay is compatible with Home Assistant, IFTTT (requires eWeLink Advanced subscription), SmartThings and Apple Home.
