A maximum of 32 Zigbee devices can be added directly to the Zigbee controller in coordinator mode.
The dongle can be used as a Zigbee 3.0 gateway in open source automation platforms to manage different sub-devices of different brands, or to embed router firmware to extend the reach of the network.
The Dongle Plus supports a variety of common systems such as Linux, Ubuntu, Raspbian, Windows and macOS (Windows and macOS require the installation of the appropriate drivers).
