Sonoff SNZB-05P Zigbee water spill/flood sensor

Sonoff SNZB-05P is Zigbee sensor for water leakage and flooding, a small smart home sensor that uses the Zigbee 3.0 protocol to send alerts and trigger automated scenes via the Zigbee 3.0 gateway. Its small size makes it easy to place on the floor near boilers, radiators, washing machines, dishwashers and other places prone to spills and leaks. The sensor detects water as little as 0.5 mm thick and is designed to operate even on metal surfaces (no false alarms). The sensor can be used in two positions: it detects water on the floor when facing downwards and dripping water (thanks to its concave design) when facing upwards.

Water damage often goes unnoticed until it's too late. The SONOFF SNZB-05P Water Leak Detector detects leaks in real time and sends instant notifications via the eWeLink app. Also, in the event of a Wi-Fi network failure, local Zigbee scenes can trigger voice alarms on compatible Zigbee gateways (e.g. Sonoff Zigbee Bridge Ultra). It also supports email notifications (with eWeLink Advanced subscription) and SMS notifications (with eWeLink Advanced subscription and IFTTT setup). Multiple notifications allow quick action to prevent costly damage and mould growth. The sensor sends alerts every ten minutes during a leak event to prevent missed alerts due to network fluctuations and ensure the safety of your property.

By communicating via an eWeLink Zigbee gateway, such as the Sonoff Zigbee Bridge Pro, it transmits data to the eWeLink cloud and can be used to manage other Sonoff or SmartWise WiFi and eWeLink devices based on triggered alarms.

It is compatible with SONOFF NSPanel Pro, SONOFF iHost, SONOFF ZB Bridge / ZB Bridge-P / ZB Bridge-U and other Zigbee 3.0 gateways such as Aeotec SmartThings hub v3. It can also be easily added to a Home Assistant home automation system using ZHA or Zigbee2MQTT (Zigbee adapter required, e.g. SONOFF ZBDongle-P / ZBDongle-E).

What is the Zigbee protocol?

Most Sonoff devices use Wi-Fi and RF as communication methods, which make the products affordable compared to other smart home technologies, but these are not IoT specific standards.

Zigbee is the ideal communication solution specifically for for low-energy installationswhere there is not a large data transfer but the lowest possible time delay is important. Zigbee is a good choice for battery-powered sensors or remote controls, as Zigbee provides several times longer runtime compared to Wi-Fi. Zigbee sensors cannot be used stand-alone, a Zigbee gateway is required to connect them to a home or office network.

The nature of Zigbee technology makes it very fast and easy to connect to Zigbee devices, much faster than Wi-Fi.

It can also be used with the Water Leak Detection Cable (sold separately), which is suitable for wide area detection or narrow control, ideal for monitoring basements, laundry rooms and under sinks. The extension cable can be connected in series with no limit on the total length.

It is powered by a CR2477 battery that provides more than 5 years of operation, eliminating the worry of frequent battery changes. It is IP67 water and dustproof, ensuring protection against short-term immersion and reliable operation in wet and dusty environments. The sensor is equipped with gold electrodes for increased corrosion resistance and made of UV-resistant materials to prevent discolouration over time.
